# Oxlade-Chamberlain unlikely to play for Liverpool until April

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is unlikely to return to the Liverpool starting lineup for another two months, according to the *[Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/02/05/alex-oxlade-chamberlain-not-expected-back-liverpool-starting/)*.

The 25-year-old has been out with a serious knee injury since last April, having been stretchered off in the Champions League semi-final first leg win over Roma.

It was almost assumed that Oxlade-Chamberlain would miss the entirety of the 2018/19 season, but more positive news has recently emerged.

It was confirmed on Monday that the former Arsenal man has been named in Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the knockout rounds.

That immediately led to some hoping he may even feature in the upcoming last-16 clash with Bayern Munich, but that is not the case.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is not expected to return to first-team action until April, as Liverpool refuse to rush him back.

He has been a huge loss this season, with his driving runs from midfield such a potent part of the Reds’ attack last term.

Liverpool will have to reach the semi-finals again for Oxlade-Chamberlain to have a chance of featuring in Europe.
