# Paul Glatzel undergoes surgery on injured knee

Liverpool forward Paul Glatzel suffered a serious knee injury during the pre-season friendly win over Tranmere Rovers earlier this month and it has now been reported that the 18-year-old has undergone surgery to help rectify the problem.

As reported by [The Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-starlet-paul-glatzel-undergoes-16645618), scans on Glatzel’s knee showed that he had damages to a knee ligament and as such, he had to go under the knife.

Liverpool have said that the surgery was a success and the teenager will now begin his rehabilitation back to full fitness.

Despite being an academy player, Glatzel will not commence his rehabilitation at Kirkby. Instead, he’ll work at Melwood, in the first-team environment as per the request of Jurgen Klopp, who wants the player to be treated as a member of his first-team squad.

Glatzel is likely to miss a large period of the season, but he’ll hope to get fit in time to make a few U23 appearances in the spring of 2020.
