# Paul Stewart believes Jadon Sancho could replace standout Liverpool star

Former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/10/micah-richards-predicts-big-things-from-thiago-next-season/) utility player Paul Stewart has suggested that Borussia Dortmund sensation [Jadon Sancho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/05/raphael-honigstein-claims-only-mohamed-salah-sale-can-fund-special-deal/) would be a worthwhile replacement were Mohamed Salah to leave Anfield.

This comes as Salah has been [continuously linked](https://talksport.com/football/806204/mohamed-salah-barcelona-real-madrid-transfer-liverpool-crystal-palace/) with a move to La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, whilst the Egyptian’s contract situation also remains unresolved.

Meanwhile, Sancho has seen his [asking price slashed](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-transfers-sancho-pogba-20516721) by the Bundesliga club and the Reds have reportedly held a [long-standing interest](https://talksport.com/football/741269/jadon-sancho-family-member-liverpool-manchester-united/) in the talented 21-year-old.

With all of that in mind, Stewart, an ex-Liverpool man of [42 outings](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/Profile/421), has told [This Is Futbol](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/05/blogs/premier-league/liverpool/exclusive-pundit-claims-sancho-could-replace-salah-transfer-rumours-e103/) that Sancho would make for an adequate alternative were Salah to move on.

> It’s going to be hard to replace Salah and there’s something that just makes me think he’s going to leave, and I know there are a lot of people talking about Real Madrid or Barcelona being two of the clubs he could go to. I think Sancho would be somebody that could come in and do a good job for Liverpool and I think he would be a good signing.

This season the Dortmund winger, who was [hailed](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/jadon-sancho-is-the-perfect-footballer-matthaus-england-borussia-dortmund-514759.jsp) as the ‘perfect footballer’ by German legend Lothar Matthaus, has scored [14 times and registered 18 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/leistungsdaten/spieler/401173) in 35 appearances across all competitions.

Salah has continued in a similar vein towards a struggling Jurgen Klopp side – scoring [29 and assisting five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455) goals.

Signing Sancho, who is [valued at £90million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/marktwertverlauf/spieler/401173#:~:text=Dortmund.-,With%20a%20market%20value%20of%20%C2%A390.00m%2C%20Jadon%20Sancho,among%20all%20players%20born%202000.), or anyone for that matter, at the expense of Salah is a non-starter at this present time for Liverpool.

Whilst in terms of finances, age and perhaps potential it would seem a no-brainer – the [£99million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148455#:~:text=%22Right%20Winger%22.-,With%20a%20market%20value%20of%20%C2%A399.00m%2C%20Mohamed%20Salah,players%20of%20the%20Premier%20League.) 28-year-old [influence](https://tribuna.com/en/liverpoolfc/news/2021-04-11-mo-salahs-importance-for-liverpools-attack-highlighted-by-3-stats/) remains has remained as important as ever.

If possible Michael Edwards should certainly be looking to fund a move for Sancho, however, without selling any of the front three.
