# Pedro Chirivella wants to leave Liverpool in January

Pedro Chirivella has revealed that he wants to leave Liverpool when the January transfer window opens.

The 22-year-old joined Liverpool back in 2015 but he’s never really been able to break into the first-team on a consistent basis.

He’s made a grand total of seven appearances for the Reds, mainly in domestic cup games, and he’s been sent out on loan three times.

In an interview with [Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/premier-league/2019/10/31/5dbafcaee2704eadba8b458f.html), the Spaniard revealed that he is eyeing a return to his homeland, ideally when the January window opens.

He said:

I was close to going to Spain (in the summer), but due to circumstances, the club decided that I had to stay again. I loved every time I had the opportunity (to play) but you have to be realistic; the opportunities are not continuous due to the players at the club. Yes, I would like to find a solution in January and return to Spain and if not, we would look to next summer to return to Spain definitely.

Chirivella has played pretty well in his two cameo appearances in the Carabao Cup this season but it’s clear to see that he’s well down the pecking order in terms of Liverpool’s midfield options and as such, it makes sense that he wants to leave. If Liverpool can get a suitable offer for the Spaniard, it would make sense for all parties if he was allowed to go back to Spain.
