# Pique reveals Barcelona are still suffering the effects of Liverpool loss

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has claimed that the club are still suffering the effects of their Champions League defeat to Liverpool this month.

The Spanish giants beat Liverpool 3-0 at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final tie, only for Jurgen Klopp’s men to produce an extraordinary comeback to send them through to the final.

Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield, as Barcelona were blown away by the Premier League side’s energy and determination to turn the tie around.

[As quoted by The Daily Mail,](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7066203/Gerard-Pique-admits-Barcelona-suffering-Liverpool-loss.html) Pique said this:

> It has been hard to get up emotionally because the days passed and you did not forget the defeat, it is a fall that will last over time.

> But we must take a step forward.

> It was a very difficult situation. The team sees that it is not going, you see that they are squeezing and that it is very recent last year.

> But we must not torture ourselves. Yes that is one of our great defeats. But that’s the sport, where sometimes you have to bite the dust.

> It was a nightmare and you have to assume it because it can happen again. But we must understand why it happened and help us in the future because we want to raise the Champions \[League\] again.

Liverpool now face Tottenham in the Champions League final at the start of next month as Klopp looks to secure his first major trophy in charge of the club – having lost the final to Real Madrid last season.

Klopp unfortunate final record at Liverpool also extends to a League Cup final defeat at the hands of Manchester City and a Europa League loss, after taking the lead, against Sevilla.
