# Pundit eulogizes over ‘remarkable’ Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch

Former Premier League defender Jaap Stam has been eulogising over reported [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/04/virals-jurgen-klopp-confirms-joel-matip-will-be-not-be-available-for-epl-clash/) target [Ryan Gravenberch](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/27/virals-ryan-gravenberch-billed-as-most-intriguing-player-on-reds-radar/).

The 19-year-old has been [linked](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/795318/transferuurtje-ihattaren-op-transferlijst-ajaxvrees-flick) with a move to the Reds as Jurgen Klopp attempts to build the next generation of stars at Anfield.

Having already become a [regular](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ryan-gravenberch/904897) for Ajax and Holland, Gravenberch is expected to take the next step in a promising career.

However, speaking to [Tutto Juve](https://www.tuttojuve.com/primo-piano/esclusiva-tj-stam-su-de-ligt-giocatore-di-livello-mondiale-e-sulla-strada-giusta-per-diventare-il-migliore-gravenberch-lo-vedrei-bene-alla-juve-e-sull-591845), Stam urged the midfielder to stay with the Eredivisie champions for at least one more season.

> Although he is very young, he is already a great player. He has good running, remarkable technical skills and is good at insertions. In England they would call him a box to box player. Another year in the Netherlands would make him more prepared for the transfer to another league, but perhaps it is easier to go to a big European football team like Juventus.

So far this season Gravenberch has [scored once and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-gravenberch/leistungsdaten/spieler/478573) in 33 appearances across all competitions – earning an impressive [7.11 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ryan-gravenberch/904897) in the process.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-gravenberch/marktwertverlauf/spieler/478573)), the Dutch wonderkid would perhaps be a more affordable alternative to the heavily linked Jude Bellingham.

Possessing a host of [key attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/363884/Show/Ryan-Gravenberch) required to become an elite level midfielder, Gravenberch would be a superb addition to Klopp’s squad.

Add the teenage talent – clearly, a favourite in Holland – to the likes of [Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-liverpool-gini-wijnaldum-22584598) and the Reds would be in good stead for years to come.
