# Pundit hails Liverpool star Luis Diaz as the ‘real deal’ following cup success

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/27/opinion-jurgen-klopp-should-choose-experience-over-excitement-for-cc-final/) winger [Luis Diaz](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/28/opinion-liverpool-winger-luis-diaz-stole-the-show-in-cc-victory/) has been hailed as the ‘real deal’ by former Scotland star Ally McCoist.

The 25-year-old has been an instant success on Merseyside following an initial £37.5million switch from FC Porto in January ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12527169/luis-diaz-liverpool-sign-porto-winger-on-five-and-a-half-year-deal-for-initial-fee-of-37m)).

Already showing signs of becoming a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s strongest side, the Colombian was a star performer as the Reds’ [lifted the Carabao Cup](https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2022/feb/27/chelsea-v-liverpool-carabao-cup-final-live) at Wembley.

Speaking on [talkSPORT Breakfast (28 February 2022)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1646028000/1646029800/), McCoist was full of praise for the ace.

> Diaz by the way, he looks the real deal. He had about a 25 minute period in the first half when he just lit the place up. It was brilliant.

Since arriving at Anfield, Diaz has earned an impressive [7.43 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/luis-diaz/883537) from three Premier League outings.

Spot on.

Diaz has been [superb in a red shirt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/480692) so far and some of the defto touches, skills and direct running during the final were sensational.

Always a threat and seemingly unnerved by the big occasion, the [£36million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/480692) Colombian looks primed to make a huge impact this season as Liverpool go in search of more trophies.
