# Pundit urges Liverpool to make ‘cheeky’ offer for Gini Wijnaldum

Former Premier League striker Stan Collymore has urged [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/03/08/slaven-bilic-lauds-liverpool-powerhouse-virgil-van-dijk/) to make a ‘cheeky’ offer to bring [Gini Wijnaldum](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/03/pundit-pleads-with-liverpool-to-sign-perfect-gini-wijnaldum-replacement/) back to Merseyside.

The 31-year-old left Anfield as a free agent last summer and [joined](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57400206) French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Dutch midfielder has so far endured a difficult time in France and was [described](https://sportwitness.co.uk/non-existent-player-savaged-liverpool-exit-bad-attack-defence/) as ‘non-existent’ and a ‘flop’ following the recent defeat to Nice.

Already linked with a return to England, Collymore told the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/stan-collymore-urges-liverpool-re-26402881) that the Reds should entertain a reunion.

> Wijnaldum is having a proper wobbler at Paris Saint-Germain and, despite the fact he’s earning a king’s ransom, if I were Jurgen Klopp I’d chance my arm with a cheeky low-ball offer to try to get him back to Liverpool. He’s 32 in November, the same age as Jordan Henderson and four years younger than James Milner, and he’d be a great player for the youngsters at Anfield such as Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones to learn from, too. I’m not usually a fan of going back but if there’s a cheap deal to be done, my old club could still be getting a proper, top-level performer.

The 51-year-old went on to say that were the [85-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/nationalmannschaft/spieler/49499/verein_id/3379) Holland ace available for ‘£5m or £8m’ then Liverpool should be very keen.

So far this season, Wijnaldum has [scored three times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) in 29 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and under contract in Paris until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/marktwertverlauf/spieler/49499)), signing the experienced Dutchman for anything close to those suggested figures would be superb value for money.

A truly [excellent servant](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/49499) to the Reds, Wijnaldum has undoubtedly been missed by Jurgen Klopp – particularly in terms of his durability.

Despite enduring a torrid spell since moving, Liverpool can bring the best out of the [energetic midfielder](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/33568/Show/Georginio-Wijnaldum) and a return would be welcomed by most.
