# Quiz: Name the Liverpool centre-backs of yesteryear

As the transfer window draws towards its close and many of a[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/28/liverpool-fans-begrudge-fabrizio-romano-transfer-suggestion/)persuasion [continue to cry out for a centre-back signing](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpool-desperately-need-to-sign-a-defender-murphy-says/87gq1fcb5jne1fszap0br1h1t) to ease the [injury worries in that position](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156), we’ve put together a quiz to test your memory on Reds defenders of yesteryear.

At present, Jurgen Klopp’s glittering squad is blessed with [one of the finest masters](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/van-dijk-best-defender-world-ac-milan-baresi-liverpool/mxzsg1awpgbn1nsfsjxvxc8mb#:~:text=Virgil%20van%20Dijk%20has%20been,and%20strength%E2%80%9D%20to%20their%20ranks.) of the central defensive position to have graced the game in recent times in [Virgil van Dijk](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/28/jose-mourinho-claims-liverpool-cannot-replace-virgil-van-dijk/).

However, it hasn’t always been that way and, for every proverbial Rolls-Royce defender, there has been a fair share of Robin Reliants to boot down the years.

As the country sits its way through another national lockdown, we’ve compiled a picture quiz to see how many former Red centre-backs you can name – Martin Skrtel or Van Dijk not included.

Screenshot your scores and let us know on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/TheReadNetwork) how you fare – full houses will be rewarded with our utmost respect.
