# Raphael Honigstein claims only Mohamed Salah sale can fund ‘special’ deal

Reputable journalist Raphael Honigstein has been talking about how [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/05/jamie-carragher-claims-ruben-dias-is-on-a-par-with-liverpool-star/) could go about funding a move for Borussia Dortmund forward [Jadon Sancho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/04/virals-liverpool-tipped-to-battle-for-jadon-sancho-this-summer/).

The Reds are reportedly keen on a move for the 21-year-old starlet this summer, with Dortmund believed to be willing to [accept a reduced fee](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-transfers-sancho-pogba-20516721) from the £100million plus price tag previously mooted.

However, Honigstein has painted a speculative picture as to whether Liverpool will be able to sanction the move, telling [*Sport1*](https://www.sport1.de/fussball/dfb-pokal/2021/05/jadon-sancho-beim-bvb-verkaeuflich-schlagen-manunited-chelsea-oder-reds-zu), as cited by [Billy Liddell](https://twitter.com/Liddellpool/status/1389873870635782149) on Twitter, that only a major sale will make it a possibility.

The [18-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/401173/verein_id/3299) England ace is also [reportedly](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-jadon-sancho-liverpool-transfer-20519261) wanted by Chelsea and arch-rivals Manchester United – both sides potentially benefitting from a reluctance among Anfield hierarchy regarding the finances.

Having struggled at the start of the campaign, this season has proven to be another one of a meteoric rise for the youngster [described as ‘special’](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2876429-neymar-praises-special-jadon-sancho-ahead-of-psgs-ucl-clash-with-dortmund)by Brazilian superstar Neymar, directly [contributing to 30 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/leistungsdaten/spieler/401173) in 34 appearances.

Signing Sancho would be a [major coup](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/news/Bundesliga/jadon-sancho-leading-emergence-of-english-prospects-in-germany-514819.jsp) for Jurgen Klopp and one that would stand Liverpool in healthy stead for the next decade.

However, coming off the back of a [crippling financial climate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/corporate/financial-information) due to the pandemic, unfortunately, this summer could come too soon for any big money deals coming out of the club.

As for the sale of Salah – although there would [certainly be huge interest](https://talksport.com/football/806204/mohamed-salah-barcelona-real-madrid-transfer-liverpool-crystal-palace/)from La Liga giants in particular – that’s simply a non-starter given the [continued contributions](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/top-scorers) from the Egyptian this season and beyond.
