# ‘Really good’ – Troy Deeney admits Liverpool player has already proved him wrong

**Liverpool recorded their first Premier League win under Andoni Iraola as they beat Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road.**

Alexander Isak emerged as the star of the show with a quickfire first-half brace, both assisted brilliantly by [Cody Gakpo](https://readliverpoolfc.com/news/david-ornstein-confirms-liverpools-stance-on-selling-cody-gakpo-this-summer/).

However, the game also marked Bradley Barcola’s Liverpool debut and Ronald Araujo’s first start for the club since his surprise loan move from Barcelona.

The Uruguayan was stationed as a right-back and flourished in that role as he defended resolutely and kept things tight.

And Troy Deeney believes Araujo did his reputation no harm with his performance at Portman Road.

## Liverpool loanee Ronald Araujo impresses

“I’ve given him a bit of stick for his games at Barcelona and his ability to not defend properly, said Deeney via the [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cd947djg1zpo).

“He’s normally the one who’s really aggressive. But I have to give it to him, he’s been really good for Liverpool and played at right-back in that situation.”

With Conor Bradley still injured and Jeremie Frimpong not living up to his billing, Araujo could get an extended run in the team as a right-back.

He didn’t offer too much going forward, but defensively, the Barcelona loanee showed his experience as he capped off a fine performance with a clean sheet.

More to come, Ronald!
