# Red Star’s Marko Marin to miss Liverpool clash

Liverpool’s Champions League opponents Red Star Belgrade have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of Wednesday’s game with the news that Marko Marin will miss the game at Anfield.

[As reported by the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/red-star-belgrade-hit-champions-15315867), the former Chelsea man will be ruled out for the game through injury.

Marin joined the club in the summer and is set to miss the game on Merseyside after failing to shake off an injury that ruled him out of Red Star’s game over the weekend.

The ex-Chelsea man has seen his career fall by the wayside somewhat after failing to make the cut at Stamford Bridge, but he has been hoping to find a home with the Serbian outfit.

Once believed to be the next best thing to come out of German football, Marin has since endured mixed spells at Sevilla, Anderlecht, Fiorentina, Trabzonspor and Olympiacos as he bids to get his career back on track.
