# Reds target Gavin Bazunu joins Manchester City

Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs have all missed out on the chance to sign young goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, who has joined Manchester City.

As reported by [Sam Wallace of The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/09/06/manchester-city-beat-chelsea-tottenahm-16-year-old-irish-goalkeeper/), City have paid a considerable fee of £420,000 for the 16-year-old, who has been impressing for Shamrock Rovers.

After breaking into the first-team squad in Ireland, some of the Premier League’s big boys took notice of Bazunu’s development.

Tottenham were hopeful of signing the player, while Chelsea also invited him to look around the club’s facilities in a bid to sway him to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool’s John Achterberg has [also recently been tasked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/07/02/liverpool-scouting-young-shamrock-rovers-goalkeeper/) with scouting the player, with the youngster widely considered as one for the future.

Brighton and Celtic both offered the player a trial, while Arsenal were also believed to be in the running, but the Premier League champions did enough to lure him to Manchester.
