# Reliable journalist confirms Liverpool are in talks with Ozan Kabak

Liverpool are in talks with [Ozan Kabak](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/12/10/liverpool-boosted-as-ozan-kabak-could-be-available-for-e15m-in-january/)‘s agent ahead of a potential deadline day move, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1356207315800748038?s=20).

He states that the 20-year-old is now the only remaining centre-back option for the Reds to sign, as well as incoming arrival [Ben Davies](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/12204919/ben-davies-liverpool-agree-2m-fee-with-preston-for-defender).

Moves for Duje Caleta-Car and Sven Botman are off the table, with Kabak the man Liverpool are focusing on and Schalke having a medical in Germany, according to *Goal*‘s Ronan Murphy on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/swearimnotpaul/status/1356206385768390656?s=20).

The centre-back’s potential move looks set to be a loan one, with a view to buy permanently further down the line.

This is the most likely a deal has looked so far on Monday, aside from Davies undergoing a medical.

Kabak has been [linked](https://www.milanlive.it/2020/12/10/milan-kabak-assalto-maldini/) with Liverpool before and he could be an exciting addition to the Reds’ back-line.

Despite only being 20, he already has [seven caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ozan-kabak/profil/spieler/361260) to his name for Turkey and has impressed for Schalke, winning [4.1 aerial duels](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/356743/Show/Ozan-Kabak) per game in the Bundesliga this season.

Only [Rhys Williams (5.5) and Nathaniel Phillips (5.4)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) have more for Liverpool, albeit having played far fewer games.
