# Report: Galatasaray monitoring Liverpool youngster Yasser Larouci

Turkish giants Galatasaray are reportedly monitoring [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/26/ac-milan-keen-on-summer-move-for-liverpool-star-gini-wijnaldum/) youngster[Yasser Larouci](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/13/leeds-united-could-sign-liverpool-youngster-yasser-larouci-this-month/)ahead of a potential free transfer this summer according to Turkish outlet [Takvim](https://www.takvim.com.tr/).

The report claims the[Super Lig leaders’](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/turkish-super-lig/table)boss Fatih Terim has been impressed with Larouci and will continue to observe his development until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old’s [contract expires in June](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/profil/spieler/554251) and at present, it seems unlikely the full-back will be offered a new deal to stay on Merseyside.

Larouci is highly thought of at Anfield and the Reds attempted to extend the [French youth international’s](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/nationalmannschaft/spieler/554251/verein_id/23101) contract previously, an offer [that was rejected](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53431903) as the defender sought first-team assurances.

Last summer newly-promoted Leeds United and Championship high-flyers Brentford[were both keen](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/larouci-set-for-liverpool-exit-amid-interest-from-leeds/l2qzdlamsqgw1aglr1u6cmpk8)on the Algeria born starlet, although a move never came to fruition.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

At one stage it looked as though Larouci had a bright future at Anfield, with Under 23s coach Barry Lewtas [hailing the youngster a ‘success story’](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/gerrards-cousin-the-scouse-german-and-meet-liverpools-next/hxe540f7d1lz1tegjs55wktvw) and[two senior outings in the 2019/20 FA Cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/554251/verein/31).

However, the summer [signing of Kostas Tsimikas](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12046303/liverpool-sign-kostas-tsimikas-from-olympiakos-for-11-75m) has scuppered any hopes he might’ve had of being understudy to Andy Robertson this term and with it, perhaps brought an end to[his four-year spell with Liverpool](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/transfers/spieler/554251).

Having made just[two Premier League 2 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/leistungsdaten/spieler/554251) this season and without coming close to a first-team call-up, the time has likely come to part ways.

That said, Galatasaray, who have won their [domestic title on 22 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.com/galatasaray-istanbul/erfolge/verein/141) would certainly be landing a bright prospect from the Reds,[especially for free](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yasser-larouci/marktwertverlauf/spieler/554251) – a fact that will sting a little.
