# Rhian Brewster reveals he came close to quitting football

Rhian Brewster has revealed that he came close to quitting football altogether after the lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury.

[Speaking to the club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/338209-rhian-brewster-interview-rehab-liverpool?wgu=264175_54264_15502261335939_8d5977b3c4&wgexpiry=1558002133&source=webgains&siteid=54264&utm_source=affiliates&utm_medium=webgains&utm_campaign=54264&wgu=264175_54264_15502315981718_2a3c47b5a0&wgexpiry=1558007598&source=webgains&siteid=54264&utm_source=affiliates&utm_medium=webgains&utm_campaign=54264), he explained how things nearly became too much, making him question his future in the game.

> I think \[rehab\] taught me I am a strong person to have been through what I have been through in the last 13 months. It’s been a bumpy ride, but for me to come out of the other end, I think has helped me a lot.
>
> There were so many points during the rehab where I thought I wanted to scrap football or I was feeling annoyed at the situation I was in, but to get through it and reach the other end, it’s shown me I am a strong person and that I know what I want to do.

Thankfully for Brewster and Liverpool, the young striker is now edging ever closer to his return to action.

The 18-year-old has not played for over a year as a result of a nasty ankle injury.

Brewster has long been tipped for big things at Liverpool but has already seen his development derailed at such a young age.

It is believed that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool still have high hopes for the player who returned to light training this week.

He joined Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in making a return during the club’s warm-weather training camp in Marbella.
