# Rival pundits compare Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Rival pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have been comparing [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/24/virals-buzz-on-twitter-as-unnamed-english-club-make-kylian-mbappe-contact/) manager [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/21/jurgen-klopp-impressed-with-spectacular-full-backs-against-burnley/) and Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The duo discussed the pros and cons of the respective manager’s starts to life in the hot seat as Solskjaer fast [approaches 100 games](https://www.premierleague.com/managers/8319/Ole-Gunnar-Solskj%C3%A6r/overview) in charge at Old Trafford.

Taking a look at [both records](https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1429869930007117831) after 99 matches, Klopp comes out on top in almost every aspect – although neither managed to win a trophy in the same period.

One major difference between the two not mentioned in the discussion is their previous records, with Klopp already a [two-time Bundesliga champion](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jurgen-klopp/erfolge/trainer/118) with Borussia Dortmund prior to arriving on Merseyside.

The 54-year-old had enjoyed success in Germany, whilst Solskjaer had [lifted titles in Norway](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ole-gunnar-solskjaer/erfolge/trainer/7286) and as Under 21 boss in Manchester following a Premier League relegation with Cardiff City.

The glaringly obvious difference between the two is the [expenditure](https://www.football365.com/news/transfers-premier-league-five-year-net-spend-man-utd-man-city) in order to achieve the respective progress.

Albeit much of the profit during the early period in Klopp’s tenure was brought about following the [£142million sale of Philippe Coutinho](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/06/philippe-coutinho-join-barcelona-142m-deal-liverpool), the Brazilian was an integral part of an otherwise lacklustre squad inherited by the German boss.

Ultimately Klopp’s 100th game and onwards has brought about [riches](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/025a-0e9f8fe852b8-ff94b0553a0e-1000--club-world-cup-firmino-wins-final-for-liverpool/) beyond many Kopites’ wildest dreams – something Neville will no doubt Solskjaer can even come close to emulating.
