# Andy Robertson hails “perfect European night” as Liverpool see off Atalanta

[Andy Robertson](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/22/liverpool-fans-hail-underrated-form-of-robertson-after-ajax-victory/) has claimed Liverpool’s 5-0 win away to Atalanta was the “perfect European night”.

The Reds were sensational in the Champions League on Tuesday, producing one of their best European performances under Jurgen Klopp. In-form Diogo Jota struck twice before half-time, before Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane killed the game off shortly after the interval.

Jota completed his hat-trick to complete the scoring as Liverpool maintained their 100 percent record in Group D after three matches.

Taking to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/andrewrobertso5/status/1323755357748056065?s=20) after the match, Roberson was clearly in buoyant spirits, hailing the team’s performance:

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Liverpool haven’t been firing on all cylinders of late, but this was a masterclass, showing why they remain arguably the best team in Europe.

That’s also now [five wins out of five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/spielplandatum/verein/31) without Virgil van Dijk in the side, and Thiago for that matter, which speaks volumes about the quality in the squad.

So many were desperate to [write off](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/19/liverpools-title-hopes-are-over-after-van-dijk-injury-claims-cascarino/) Liverpool’s chances of silverware when Van Dijk got [injured](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/18/van-dijk-ruled-out-for-months-with-cruciate-ligament-injury/), but the current signs are positive.

Confidence will be flowing as the Reds prepare to face Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday – another convincing win there would really make people sit up and take notice.
