# Rumoured Liverpool target Manuel Lanzini suffers major injury

Just a few weeks ago, it was [reported](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/05/15/liverpool-step-up-their-interest-in-manuel-lanzini/) that Liverpool were interested in signing West Ham forward Manuel Lanzini.

However, any chance of a summer swoop for the Argentinian have been wiped out after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee whilst on international duty with Argentina.

The injury obviously rules the 25-year-old out of the World Cup and he’ll miss a large portion of the next Premier League season too.

There is no word on the severity of the injury at this stage but Lanzini is likely to be out until 2019 at the earliest, as the recovery period for ACL injuries is often a long one, so there is no chance that Liverpool even consider a move for the 25-year-old until the summer of 2019.
