# Sadio Mane has ‘no repercussion’ of back issue suffered against Aston Villa

Liverpool forward [Sadio Mane](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/01/05/carragher-claims-mane-was-liverpools-best-player-in-southampton-defeat/) is fit to face Manchester United at Anfield this weekend after suffering ‘no repercussion’ of the back injury he picked up against Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old grimaced in pain after scoring the opener in last week’s FA Cup victory at Villa Park, but went on to play for [74 minutes](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55574199).

Despite potential worries about his fitness ahead of Sunday’s vital Premier League clash with United, [This Is Anfield](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2021/01/naby-keita-and-joel-matip-still-absent-as-liverpool-prepare-for-man-united-title-clash/) have claimed that Mane will be available for the top-of-the-table meeting, stating: “There has been no repercussion of the back problem Sadio Mane looked to have suffered early into last Friday’s victory at Villa”.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

A huge performance from Mane is needed on Sunday, with he and his fellow forwards falling short of their best form in recent weeks.

Liverpool have only [scored once in their last three league outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/spielplan/verein/31) against West Brom, Newcastle United and Southampton, with the Reds’ number 10 [netting the only goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3421818) in the first of those games.

In the 1-0 defeat at Saints, the [much-heralded trio](https://liverpoolcore.com/what-makes-liverpool-fcs-front-three-so-lethal-in-2020/) of Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were particularly out of sync with one another, [creating just one chance](https://www.fotmob.com/livescores/3411516/lineup/southampton-vs-liverpool) between them.

It’s not often that the front three are even remotely questioned – they have scored a combined total of [284 goals](https://www.lfchistory.net/Stats/PlayerGoalscorers) for Liverpool – but it hasn’t been a good start to 2021 for them. Hopefully that can be put to bed on Sunday, of all days.
