# Sadio Mane won’t go on Liverpool’s tour to Asia

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Sadio Mane took another giant leap towards recovery by running with his team mates on Tuesday, according to a report on the club’s [official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/268077-jurgen-klopp-offers-update-on-sadio-mane-s-recovery).

The forward is progressing well but the German manager has confirmed that he will remain at Melwood instead of joining the squad on their flight to Hong Kong this weekend.

The Senegal international had his explosive season devastatingly cut short due to a serious knee injury which then required surgery, but the player is making a steady recovery so far.

The 25-year-old was having a terrific season and managed to get his name on the scoresheet 13 times last season and also registered five assists.

Mane quickly became a fan favourite and scored the memorable late winner at Goodison Park against Merseyside rivals Everton.

Liverpool will be flying out to Hong Kong to participate in the Premier League Asia Trophy but Klopp confirmed that Mane can stay in England and work on his fitness for the upcoming season.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “He is really, really good. He is close; he is closing on coming back to team training.

“On Tuesday morning he was part of the running, so he is first-team training if you want and that looked really good.”

This news will offer hope to Liverpool fans that Mane can return to his best form next season as Liverpool look to challenge for the Premier League as well as the UEFA Champions League.
