# Salah shows his class after securing Egypt’s place in 2018 World Cup

Mohamed Salah has rejected a luxurious holiday villa as a gift following his late penalty that secured Egypt’s place at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

According to Egyptian website yallakora.com, as reported by the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-winger-mo-salah-turns-13786636), Mamdouh Abbas, the former president of the club Zamalek contacted Salah to offer him a villa as a thank you for his heroics with the national side.

However, Salah turned down the offer and requested that Abbas put forward a donation to the village of Nagrig in Gharbiya, something that would please him more than the villa.

The 25-year-old scored a last-minute penalty during the international break that saw Egypt beat Congo and secure their place at the World Cup.

The World Cup in Russia next summer will be Egypt’s first since 1990.

Salah, who is Liverpool’s club-record signing, joined from Roma this summer and has scored eight goals already this season, making him the club’s top goalscorer.
