# Schalke to sign replacement for Liverpool target Meyer

Liverpool want to add some more talent and creativity to their midfield ahead of the new season and [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3146096/schalkes-max-meyer-considers-future-amid-spurs-liverpool-links) believe that they are interested in signing Schalke’s Max Meyer, but face competition from Tottenham for his signature.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has just a year left to run on his contract with the Bundesliga side and has [confirmed that he will not](https://readbundesliga.com/2017/06/21/max-meyer-speaks-future-amid-liverpool-interest/) be signing an extension.

Schalke are [ready to sell the attacking midfielder](https://readbundesliga.com/2017/06/06/schalke-looking-e16m-sell-max-meyer/) and it seems as if they have already found a replacement for the Germany international.

French newspaper Ouest-France (h/t [Football London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/spurs-transfer-boost-quest-schalke-13233567)), Schalke are closing in on the signing of 20-year-old Nantes playmaker Amine Harit and are poised to secure his signature on a four-year contract.

Harit is a very similar player to Meyer and it appears as if Schalke wanted to bring in a replacement before allowing him to leave the club for good.

Meyer can be had for as little as £17.5m this summer and both Liverpool and Tottenham are interested in signing him as a summer transfer edges closer following the news that Schalke are poised to sign Harit.
