# Sevilla will do ‘everything possible’ to sign Takumi Minamino

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/17/simon-hughes-claims-liverpool-have-big-issues-to-solve-over-contracts/) forward [Takumi Minamino](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/02/jurgen-klopp-hails-incredible-takumi-minamino-after-southampton-move/) is a major summer target for La Liga side [Sevilla](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/12/liverpool-could-have-to-pay-70m-to-sign-jules-kounde/), according to Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/minamino-podria-hueco-liga-sevilla-salzburgo-liverpool-southampton-lopetegui-monchi-20210214.html) \[via [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-transfer-news-takumi-minamino-23513442)\].

The Japanese winger was [loaned out to Southampton](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/424573-takumi-minamino-joins-southampton-on-loan) at the end of the January transfer window after struggling to hold down a regular place in Jurgen Klopp’s side 12 months after his arrival.

Having made a [bright start to life](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/19071308.minamino-showed-can-help-us-debut-goal-saints/)on the south coast, the report claimed that Sevilla director of football Monchi is a huge fan of the 26-year-old and will do ‘everything possible’ to land Minamino at the end of the season.

There is no obligation or clause to buy the [Japan international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/nationalmannschaft/spieler/165793/verein_id/3435) within the deal which saw him move to the Saints on deadline day, a stipulation [Jurgen Klopp insisted upon](https://www.football365.com/news/klopp-hopes-minamino-returns-with-a-different-mindset) for the man he [hailed as an “incredible player”](https://twitter.com/thisisanfield/status/1356591514672111618?s=20) after the move.

However, having played just [528 minutes of Premier League football and scored one top-flight goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/takumi-minamino/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/165793/wettbewerb/GB1) prior to his deadline day transfer, his future at Liverpool remains uncertain.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Given the [relatively negligible asking price](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11890345/takumi-minamino-liverpool-sign-red-bull-salzburg-midfielder) the Reds exploited to land the versatile forward, this was a move which always had the look of a free hit for the club.

Had the Japanese ace flourished at Anfield, Klopp would’ve landed a bargain; had he struggled, the Reds would likely sell for a profit.

[Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/minamino-podria-hueco-liga-sevilla-salzburgo-liverpool-southampton-lopetegui-monchi-20210214.html) claimed that Sevilla are willing to pay €10m (£8.7m) for Minamino, a fee which would represent a small profit from the [£7.5m the Reds spent](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/liverpool-new-signing-takumi-minamino-japan-shirt-sales-commerical), but certainly one which Liverpool would look to increase, especially if he can finish the season well with Southampton.

Ultimately, things [haven’t gone as initially hoped](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/jurgen-klopp-takumi-minamino-liverpool-23282434) for Minamino on Merseyside, and a summer parting of ways could be best for all parties – especially with Diogo Jota’s signing and [subsequent impact](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/jota-impact-liverpool-similar-salah-klopp-headache-aldridge/1ixdq112s4wu9z9kenig0uy58) being a major factor in his lack of opportunities.
