# Sigurdsson warns Liverpool ahead of Merseyside derby

Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has fired a warning to Liverpool ahead of the weekend’s Merseyside derby.

As reported on the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gylfi-sigurdsson-fires-merseyside-derby-15896025), the Reds travel to Goodison Park to face their arch-rivals on Sunday.

Sigurdsson was on form to help Everton secure a comfortable 3-0 away victory over Cardiff City on Tuesday evening, whilst Liverpool host in-form Watford at Anfield tonight.

Sigurdsson has warned the Reds that Everton will be up for the derby. When asked if Everton want to derail Liverpool’s title challenge, he said:

> Of course, yes. You always want to win these games, especially after the disappointing ending to the game the last time we played them.

> To lose a derby game like that, being so close to a good point away from home, was very disappointing.

> These are the games you are looking forward to before the season starts.

Jordan Pickford’s howler earlier in the season allowed Divock Origi to score the winner at Anfield.
