# Spurs set sights on former Liverpool transfer target Chilwell

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Leicester full-back Ben Chilwell.

The 21-year-old was heavily courted by Liverpool in 2016, with the Reds ultimately unsuccessful in their pursuit of the defender.

Leicester were able to hang on to their youth product, but another Premier League big-boy is now said to be keen on securing the services of the England U21 star.

Despite the interest, [The Telegraph claim](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/09/10/tottenham-monitor-leicester-left-back-ben-chilwell-ajax-midfielder/) Spurs will wait until next summer before they make their move for Chilwell – one that may prove costly.

The year after failing to sign Chilwell, Liverpool solved the question of their left-back with the signing of Andrew Robertson, who joined from Hull City for an incredibly reasonable £8 million.

Despite being unlikely to re-enter the stakes for Chilwell, manager Jürgen Klopp may opt to improve his depth at the position if he deems Alberto Moreno to be unsatisfactory in his role.
