# ‘Take it for granted’ – Andoni Iraola names Liverpool’s most underrated player

**Liverpool are coming into their own under Andoni Iraola and will look to take another massive step in their development with a win against Brighton tomorrow.**

The Reds are unbeaten in their last three games across all competitions, but the Seagulls are flying under Fabian Hurzeler and will look to cause an upset at Anfield.

Iraola has had to use the whole length of his squad in recent weeks as games continue to come thick and fast.

And the Spaniard believes Cody Gakpo simply doesn’t get the credit he deserves despite his consistent performances over the years.

## Andoni Iraola raves about Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo

“I’d probably say Cody Gakpo, because we often focus on what’s new, the new signings and the young players,” said Iraola via SomosElBoro on YouTube when asked to name Liverpool’s most underrated player.

“Cody has been producing numbers and performing for years, and sometimes he doesn’t get the recognition. He’s there and you take it for granted.

“He’s surprised me. I already knew him and I’ve had to suffer against him, but his consistency and personality. I’d probably go with Cody Gakpo.”

Gakpo was close to leaving in the summer transfer window, but his move to Manchester City didn’t materialise.

At the time, the fee mentioned was close to £80m and a large section of the Anfield faithful would have been reluctantly okay to part with him at that price.

However, he has started the new season in fine form, so in hindsight, everything probably worked out for the best.
