# “Top-level buffoonery” – Hamann mocks Richard Keys comments about Liverpool

Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann has mocked Richard Keys, following his outrageous comments about the Reds.

The German was a popular figure during a seven-year stay at Anfield between 1999 and 2006, winning a cup treble in 2001 and the Champions League four years later.

A classy midfielder who shone alongside the likes of Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, Hamann was a key man under both Gerard Houllier and Rafa Benitez.

If he wasn’t already thought of fondly, supporters are sure to like his latest social media post, too, following Keys’ remarks.

The former Sky Sports presenter seemingly has it in for Liverpool, with his most recent [blog post](https://richardajkeys.com/index.php/blog) suggesting the Reds shouldn’t be handed the title if this season is declared null and void.

He also claims that Jurgen Klopp’s methods are catching up with the players, hinting that their form is suffering badly because of it.

Hamann took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/DietmarHamann/status/1239538878425567232?s=20) to post a response, with three simple words needed to sum up Keys’ comments:

It is a strange take from Keys, who does seem to keen to play down the brilliance of this Liverpool side.

He seems fond of taking any kind of negative stance on Klopp and his team, rarely giving them the credit they deserve.

Maybe his good friend and sidekick Andy Gray is letting his Everton bias have an effect on his colleague?
