# Traore hails Robertson and Alexander-Arnold

Former Liverpool defender and 2005 Champions League winner Djimi Traore has lavished praise on the Reds’ full-back pairing Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.

For everyone who’s been glued into this year’s Premier League title race, it has been clear to see that the Red side of Merseyside possesses an exceptional duo of wide defenders.

The now-current assistant manager of Seattle Sounders FC cared to share some in-house perspective with [Liverpool’s official club website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/343057-robertson-alexander-arnold-liverpool-traore-interview) about the new modernised playing style at full-back, and how much the pair are succeeding offensively as well as defensively.

Traore said:

> I think both of the full-backs are fantastic players. They play more offensive than what we used to do back in my era, they are great lads and you can see they enjoy it, they embrace that position and enjoy their football.

> They are part of our attack and it’s fantastic the way Liverpool play. Everybody attacks and everybody also defends.

> The full-backs contribute a lot to the offensive part of the team and it is a good weapon because when you have that kind of service it’s fantastic for the strikers.

And the numbers truly support Traore’s statement. Scottish skipper Robertson holds rank over his English teammate Alexnder-Arnold for most provided assists at full-back.

He has provided goals for his fellow Reds stars on 10 occasions, meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold has chipped in with six direct assists.

It might still be too early call for the right-back to get back on the pitch this Sunday with their clash at Anfield against Tottenham Hotspur, but Jurgen Klopp [remains hopeful](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/03/26/klopp-delivers-updates-on-alexander-arnold-and-shaqiri/).
