# Trent Alexander-Arnold set for England call up

Gareth Southgate is considering calling up Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold for England’s World Cup squad, according to the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/uncapped-teenagers-jadon-sancho-trent-12514151).

Southgate has to name his provisional 35-man list by Monday’s deadline and he’s set to select the teenager in that squad.

He’ll then need to decide if he wishes to include the 19-year-old in the final 23-man squad to fly out to Russia for the tournament, and he’ll make that decision on Wednesday.

Joe Gomez’s injury means that he’ll miss the World Cup, whilst Kieran Trippier is now a doubt after injuring his thigh during Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday evening, so there is a space for Alexander-Arnold to make the squad.

The Liverpool-born star has never earned a full England cap, although he has trained with the squad in the past, but his performances this season have shown that he’d be a worthy selection if called upon.

Jordan Henderson is certain to be included in the squad, whilst the recently fit again Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne will be hoping to be selected too.
