# Van Dijk backs Salah to silence his critics

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted that he has no concerns regarding Mohamed Salah’s recent form.

The Egypt international has come in for some criticism in the early stages of the campaign following an arguably slow start. Salah has netted only three goals from eight Premier League outings so far this term.

Despite this, though, Van Dijk has been left confused by the intense scrutiny surrounding Salah’s ongoing predicament with Liverpool, claiming that he doesn’t “understand all the fuss”.

Speaking to Premier League News, as reported by [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/liverpools-van-dijk-not-worried-at-all-about-mohamed-salahs/1n21o0pn9dpou1881tfs7kmqd5), Van Dijk expressed his discontent with how Salah’s recent displays have been scrutinised.

> I don’t understand all the fuss about him not being at his best because I think last year he had the same number as he had right now and there wasn’t any issue.

> Obviously, he knows that he needs to try and do a little more than he is doing right now but he’s giving his all and I’m not worried at all. I’m looking at the positive side.

Salah picked up a muscular injury whilst on international duty with Egypt but is expected to be fit to face Huddersfield Town on Saturday evening.

Van Dijk, too, saw his international break cut short as he picked up a knock with the Netherlands. Despite this, though, the Reds’ record signing is expected to play against the Terriers.

Liverpool will be desperate to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season on Saturday and will be equally keen for Salah to get back on the score sheet.
