# Van Dijk backs “world class” Salah

Virgil van Dijk has backed Mohamed Salah to rediscover his goalscoring form and described the forward as “world class,” amid the 26-year-old’s current run of poor form.

Salah hasn’t scored in his last seven outings, including in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Fulham, but the Egyptian still has an impressive record of 20 goals in all competitions this season.

The forward is also just one goal away from 50 Premier League goals for Liverpool, and he could become the quickest ever player to reach that feat for the club should he find the back of the net in one of his next four league games.

And, [speaking to the club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/342301-van-dijk-salah-liverpool-form-goals), van Dijk believes it is only a matter of time until the “world class” 26-year-old starts scoring consistently once again.

> Mo is a world-class player. People can say all they want but I think all the teams in the Premier League would love to have him in their side. We have him and I think he is playing well. The goals will come. That’s something for a striker that is maybe going to be in your head but we tell him every time: you just need to keep working, keep going and you will be fine.

Liverpool go into the international break two points clear at the top of the Premier League following their victory over Fulham, though title rivals Manchester City have a game in hand over the Reds.
