# Van Dijk to be in the crowd to watch Liverpool vs Leicester

Virgil van Dijk will get his first taste of Anfield as a Liverpool player when he watches on from the stands when the Reds face Leicester on Saturday.

The [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/virgil-van-dijk-watch-liverpool-14090330) report that the club’s latest signing will be watching his new side face the Foxes as he prepares to join the club in the year.

It was confirmed earlier in the week that van Dijk will officially become a Liverpool player in January after a £75 million deal had been struck.

After months of frustration and speculation, Liverpool finally got their man after he agreed a five-year deal at the club.

It had been reported that Manchester City were close to signing the player, but it is believed that he always favoured a move to Anfield.

The Dutchman came close to joining the Reds in the summer but a deal could not be finalised after Southampton reported Liverpool for their approach to the player.
