# Van Dijk desperate to win silverware with Liverpool this season

Virgil van Dijk is desperate to begin winning trophies with Liverpool.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the Dutchman discussed his drive to win silverware with the Reds and insisted that he’ll do all he can to help the club in their pursuit of trophies in the upcoming season.

Van Dijk joined the Reds in the January transfer window midway through the last campaign and was instrumental in the team’s run to the Champions League final.

After narrowly missing out on securing his first bit of silverware in English football against Real Madrid in May, Van Dijk has been outlining his ambitions for the season ahead.

> Like I said when I arrived, I want to achieve everything possible with this beautiful club. We’re going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season. We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough.

Van Dijk is set to line up alongside Dejan Lovren in the heart of defence next season as Jurgen Klopp continues to build his Liverpool side.

The Reds’ club-record signing arrived at Melwood this week to begin pre-season preparations alongside compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum, and the pair will be desperate to get back into action.

> I can improve in any aspect of the game. At the moment, it’s getting back to full fitness, making sure I’m getting better and stronger than I was before. I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.
