# Virals: Alberto Moreno remembers Liverpool after Europa League win

Former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/27/virals-liverpool-reportedly-leading-the-race-for-yves-bissouma/) full-back [Alberto Moreno](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/06/25/moreno-set-for-villarreal-move/) hasn’t forgotten his time spent at Anfield as the Spaniard proved the Reds live on in his heart.

The 28-year-old left-back left Merseyside as a free agent before [signing for Villareal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48929136.amp) back in 2019.

But it would seem the ace still holds the Anfield club dear to his heart as following the [Yellow Submarine’s](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/022c-0e9411486b94-bad6e1e8997f-1000--why-villarreal-are-the-yellow-submarine/) successful Europa League victory over Manchester United, Moreno had some jibes for his former rivals.

Taking to [Instagram Live](https://www.instagram.com/18albertomp/?hl=en) as the La Liga side celebrated on the pitch with the trophy in arms – often shouting ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ on request from viewers.

> Twitter: Alberto Moreno just gave an interesting shout out to Liverpool fans![😂](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/1f602.svg) https://t.co/Qbsa33bmxz (@issam\_LFC)

The festivities [continued inside the dressing room](https://twitter.com/stehoare/status/1397779777239629829) where the man who netted Villareal’s fourth spot-kick continued his jovial assault aimed towards the Old Trafford club.

Moreno, who has only made [nine appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberto-moreno/leistungsdaten/spieler/207917) across all competitions this season, now boasts [three major European winners medals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberto-moreno/erfolge/spieler/207917) – adding the latest Europa League success to victory in 2014 and his UEFA Champions League medal with the Reds in 2019.

Although it may have ended on a high, the [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberto-moreno/nationalmannschaft/spieler/207917/verein_id/3375) star’s time on Merseyside wasn’t always a memorable one – [vilified for his role](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/may/24/villarreal-alberto-moreno-liverpool-europa-league-final-manchester-united) in Liverpool’s own European final defeat against Sevilla.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

First and foremost – congratulations to Moreno and Villareal moreover.

How often do ex-Reds keep the club in the hearts long after their departure – perhaps owing to the [affection they feel](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435257-gini-wijnaldum-i-ll-be-a-liverpool-supporter-for-life) and reception most receive.

Whilst the defenders [141 Liverpool appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alberto-moreno/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/207917) weren’t always glittering displays, overall the professionalism and attitude of the Spaniard were always spot on.
