# Virals: Andy Robertson ‘positive’ over injury diagnosis

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/08/08/virals-liverpool-target-nicolo-barella-considering-future/) made the eagerly anticipated return to a near-full Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the penultimate pre-season clash against Athletic Bilbao.

The Reds [took the lead](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12376537/liverpool-1-1-athletic-bilbao-diogo-jota-helps-reds-draw-pre-season-clash-but-andy-robertson-injury-a-concern) in the first half through Portuguese forward Diogo Jota before Alejandro Rameiro levelled the match after half-time.

There was reason for concern before the break, however, when ever-reliable full-back Andy Robertson [twisted an ankle](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12376821/andy-robertson-jurgen-klopp-waiting-on-scan-after-liverpool-left-back-suffers-ankle-injury-vs-athletic-bilbao) attempting to block a cross before being helped from the pitch.

The 27-year-old took to [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/andyrobertson94/?hl=en) following the match to give a glimmer of hope to Kopites that the issue may not be as serious as first feared.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp [confirmed](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/aug/08/liverpool-andy-robertson-bilbao-friendly) after full-time that the severity of the problem won’t become clear until after a scan today (Monday).

Last season Robertson made [49 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrew-robertson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/234803) across all competitions – including an outing in every Premier League match.

Fingers crossed the star’s positivity is well placed.

Albeit a relatively innocuous incident, the turn of the ankle was and instant [reaction from teammates](https://talksport.com/football/923631/liverpool-andy-robertson-injury-ankle-athletic-bilbao-premier-league/) was a worrying sight.

However, the £58.8million valued ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrew-robertson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/234803)) Scot was able to put weight on the foot and a positive social media post may spell good news.
