# Virals: Aston Villa plot ‘another move’ for Liverpool ace Joe Gomez

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/24/pundits-slam-appalling-var-decision-to-award-liverpool-penalty/) defender [Joe Gomez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/22/virals-real-madrid-keeping-tabs-on-liverpool-star-joe-gomez/) will reportedly be the subject of ‘another move’ from Aston Villa before the transfer window closes.

The 24-year-old was [linked with a switch to Villa Park](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-liverpool-joe-gomez-22412370) earlier in the month but it appeared that the interest disappeared as quickly as it came.

However, having [struggled](https://www.footballinsider247.com/gomez-facing-extended-spell-out-of-liverpool-side-despite-klopps-brilliant-reveal-pundit/) to force his way back into Jurgen Klopp’s side, Gomez could be targetted once more by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

That’s according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-aston-villa-line-up-new-gomez-move-amid-huge-gerrard-verdict/), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/footyinsider247/status/1485516257940156416).

The report claims that Villa have ‘not given up hope’ of singing the [11-cap England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/256178/verein_id/3299) this month and could make a late attempt.

Since returning from injury at the start of the season, Gomez has made [12 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) across all competitions for the Reds – completing 90 minutes on just four occasions.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract at Anfield until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/256178)), the Englishman remains a valuable asset to the club.

Despite seemingly making a [sluggish return](https://www.sofascore.com/player/joe-gomez/318927) to action, not helped by the impressive start to life made by Ibrahima Konate, the one-time favoured partner to Virgil van Dijk is still a long-term investment.

All told, it’s likely Nat Phillips is the centre-back who [will leave Mersyeisde](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1552511/Liverpool-reject-two-bids-Nat-Phillips-premier-league-transfer-news) in the final week of the window as the no-nonsense ace goes in search of richly deserved first-team football.
