# Virals: Barcelona reportedly plot shock move for Divock Origi

Barcelona are reportedly planning a January attempt to sign out of favour [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/05/virals-liverpool-eyeing-a-move-for-valencia-winger-goncalo-guedes/) striker [Divock Origi](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/21/virals-liverpool-forward-divock-origi-attracting-interest-from-rc-lens/).

The 26-year-old Belgian has found regular game time a struggle so far this season at Anfield and could seek a move during the [winter transfer window](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english-premier-league/story/4480113/when-does-the-january-transfer-window-open-and-close#:~:text=The%20transfer%20market%20will%20reopen,loan%20from%20the%20Premier%20League.).

Despite earning a surprise start in the UEFA Champions League opening night victory over AC Milan, Origi has only been used as a [fleeting substitute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) in the Premier League.

According to a report from Spanish publication [Sport](https://www.sport.es/en/), as cited by [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1445454361908310026) on Twitter, the Catalan giants could make a move for the Reds’ cult hero.

The report claims Barcelona have between £12-21million to strengthen their attacking options and Origi – whose [contract expires](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/profil/spieler/148368) at the start of next summer – could be the target.

So far this season the forward has started on just two occasions, once in Europe and once in the Carabao Cup, seeing just [two minutes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) of league action.

Ironically, Origi’s [finest hour in a Liverpool shirt](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48179167) perhaps came against Barcelona.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp needs the attacking depth, the Belgian simply [hasn’t provided sufficient backup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/148368) all too often and a change is likely the best option for all parties.

Valued at £10.8million and entering the final six months of a contract on Merseyside ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/marktwertverlauf/spieler/148368)), Liverpool would be wise to accept bids from any interested parties in January.

Furthermore, interest in a striker [struggling to feature](https://www.sofascore.com/player/divock-origi/190399) in England is perhaps a clear demonstration of Barcelona’s status right now.
