# Virals: Barcelona ‘willing’ to accept £20m for Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona are believed to be ready to take a huge hit on attacking midfielder [Philippe Coutinho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/27/virals-philippe-coutinho-wants-dream-return-to-liverpool/) this summer.

Signed from [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/05/virals-liverpool-outcast-konstantinos-tsimikas-on-inter-milan-wishlist/) for an eye-watering £142million in 2018  ([The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jan/06/philippe-coutinho-join-barcelona-142m-deal-liverpool)), the 29-year-old has endured an underwhelming stay in Catalunia.

Despite arriving as one of the [world’s best](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/philippe-coutinho-world-cups-best-12820303), Coutinho was [loaned to Bayern Munich](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49392631) after a disappointing start to life at the Camp Nou.

Now the Brazilian attacking midfielder is reportedly being made available for just £20million this summer according to [Football Espana](https://www.football-espana.net/2021/07/04/ac-milan-to-offer-philippe-coutinho-a-barcelona-exit-route), as cited by [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1411804845695176711) on Twitter.

Since signing for Barca, the ace [described](https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/coutinho-has-magical-powers-firmino-heaps-praise-upon-phenomenal-/g0yh5e5v41dm1hty0vp6wj909) as having ‘magical powers’ by Roberto Firmino, has played [90 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/80444) for the club.

Coutinho made just [14 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/80444) in all competitions last term during an injury-hit campaign, scoring three goals and registering another two assists.

Much maligned by many Kopites, any return for the [63-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/80444/verein_id/3439) Brazil star would likely polarise amongst the fanbase.

On a pure ability level, there is no doubt Coutinho still has [plenty to offer](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/80767/Show/Philippe-Coutinho) Jurgen Klopp’s squad and would fulfil a role untouched since his departure – the number 10 position.

Currently struck by a [long term knee injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/verletzungen/spieler/80444) any move would have to be tempered for the meantime, but could still manifest during the summer window.

Valued at £27million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/philippe-coutinho/verletzungen/spieler/80444)), at the right price and without needing to be heavily reliant on the Brazilian, Liverpool could still land themselves a top performer at a bargain price.
