# Virals: Barcelona would ‘seriously consider’ offers for Liverpool target

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/06/virals-liverpool-interested-in-signing-fc-nantes-striker-randal-kolo-muani/) may have been handed a possible opportunity to pursue a deal for Barcelona midfielder [Frenkie de Jong](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/10/virals-liverpool-crazy-for-barcelona-star-frenkie-de-jong/).

The Reds were recently [reported](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-crazy-sign-reds-presented-keen-player-offers-table/) to be ‘crazy to sign’ the 24-year-old and that notion could now be closer than ever.

According to a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/3050286/2022/01/05/barcelona-are-lining-up-morata-and-say-they-want-haaland-but-can-they-even-register-torres/?article_source=search&search_query=Frenkie%20De%20Jong), as cited by [Anfield Edition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition/status/1478780406581370885) on Twitter, Barcelona would ‘seriously consider’ offers for the Dutchman.

The report claims that it would take a ‘big offer’ to prise the [38-cap Holland ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/frenkie-de-jong/nationalmannschaft/spieler/326330/verein_id/3379) out of the Catalan giants.

This season De Jong – hailed as [‘extraordinary’](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2020/11/19/21575437/xavi-singles-out-extraordinary-frenkie-de-jong-for-praise) by Xavi – has [scored once and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/frenkie-de-jong/leistungsdaten/spieler/326330) in 23 appearances across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Valued at £63million and under contract until 2026 at Camp Nou ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/frenkie-de-jong/marktwertverlauf/spieler/326330)), Liverpool would certainly be in a record-breaking territory in order to land the midfielder.

With the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago all playing a reduced role for various reasons, Jurgen Klopp is expected to [strengthen the department](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in the near future.

Already an [experienced operator](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/frenkie-de-jong/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/326330) at the top level following bright beginnings at Ajax before moving to Barca, De Jong would certainly be a ready-made addition to Klopp’s ranks.

Holding all the [fundamental attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/279423/Show/Frenkie-de-Jong) required to become a key player for the Reds, the Anfield club should perhaps test the resolve of the financially struggling Catalans with a bid.
