# Virals: Ben Davies posts optimistic social media post

[Ben Davies](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/21/virals-james-pearce-claims-liverpool-are-set-to-stick-by-ben-davies/) signing from Preston North End on transfer deadline day was certainly one of the more left-field moments of a wholly bizarre 2020/21 season.

Arriving alongside Ozan Kabak as emergency defensive cover as [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/27/virals-trent-alexander-arnold-compilation-proves-class-once-again/) suffered from [numerous injury issues](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-injury-news-latest-list-alisson-thiago-alexander-arnold-robertson-henderson-780156) – including losing all three senior central defenders for the entire campaign.

Perhaps topping the bizarre nature of the 25-year-olds arrival, Davies then preceded to go missing somewhat on Merseyside – failing to make a [single appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-davies/leistungsdaten/spieler/257097) despite continued problems and an [occasional bench sighting](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-davies/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/257097/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/31).

With speculation among Kopites wondering if the Englishman will ever pull on a Red shirt for a competitive game, Davies has quelled some suspicions with an [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CPYCtBdLXQd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) post on Thursday, as cited by [Watch LFC](https://twitter.com/Watch_LFC/status/1397907259360006144) on Twitter.

It would seem an injury has ruled the Barrow born ace out for a period of his Anfield stay – rather summing up the [rotten luck suffered](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-injuries-premier-league-rivals-20562795) within Jurgen Klopp’s squad in the last 12 months.

Judging by the post, Davies certainly sees his own future as staying at Liverpool and playing a part in what should hopefully be a [comeback campaign](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-joel-matip-breaking-20484894) next year for many.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

All being well, Klopp could go from a [dearth of options](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) to an embarrassment of riches in the central defensive department next season.

With the hopeful return of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip [seemingly on schedule](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/428712-jurgen-klopp-explains-return-timescales-for-gomez-matip-and-van-dijk) – Liverpool [look set](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/435500-liverpool-pursuing-rb-leipzig-defender-ibrahima-konate) to add Ibrahima Konate to the ranks.

Having [reportedly](https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-ozan-kabak-permanent-transfer-schalke) rejected the opportunity to sign Kabak on a permanent basis, Rhys Williams could also find himself out on loan next season in order to continue his development.

That leaves Davies and Nat Phillips as further alternatives – ones who may find regular game time hard to come by given the competition.

Valued at £2.7million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-davies/marktwertverlauf/spieler/257097)), were the Anfield transfer team to decide to sell this summer – previous [interest from Burnley and Celtic](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/transfer-update-emerges-on-preston-player-amid-burnley-and-celtic-interest/) would likely see the Reds make a profit on their [£1.6million](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/01/liverpool-sign-ozan-kabak-and-ben-davies) expenditure.
