# Virals: Christian Falk confirms Liverpool interest in Florian Neuhaus

As Euro 2020 moved within just hours from getting underway, serious reports began to emerge claiming [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/11/virals-images-of-new-liverpool-away-kit-appear-on-twitter/) were keen on one of the potential star nations top players.

The Borussia Monchengladbach and Germany midfielder, [Florian Neuhaus](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/04/28/emile-heskey-believes-florian-neuhaus-could-provide-missing-dimension/), has previously been [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/klopp-repeat-transfer-gamble-trio-chance-replace-wijnaldum-liverpool) with the Reds and as of Friday afternoon, those links have seemingly enhanced.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be an admirer of the 24-year-old and could be set to make Neuhaus the [Gini Wijnaldum replacement](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11820/12189637/georginio-wijnaldum-paris-saint-germain-sign-midfielder-on-free-transfer-from-liverpool) this summer.

Originally reported by [Florian Plettenberg](https://twitter.com/Plettigoal/status/1403313562332897285) on Twitter, reputable Head of Football at Bild, [Christian Falk](https://twitter.com/cfbayern/status/1403328758929571849), soon backed up the claims – thus sparking a snowball effect across social media.

> Twitter: True ![✅](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.0.1/svg/2705.svg) There is still an interest of @lfc in Florian Neuhaus and there have been a contact. But no concrete negotia… https://t.co/Nx5Uo95aBD (@cfbayern)

As alluded to in the reports, no official offers are currently on the table and the [midfielder’s release clause](https://bulinews.com/news/7102/report-florian-neuhaus-gladbach-deal-includes-a-release-clause) has now expired, leaving any deal open to negotiation.

[Described](https://pressfrom.info/au/news/entertainment/-300727-rose-praises-neuhaus-has-everything-to-survive-in-the-shark-tank.html) as an ‘extraordinary footballer’ by Marco Rose, the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-neuhaus/nationalmannschaft/spieler/278332/verein_id/3262) ace scored eight and assisted eight others in [45 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-neuhaus/leistungsdaten/spieler/278332) during 2020/21.

Valued at £31.5million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/florian-neuhaus/marktwertverlauf/spieler/278332)), signing Neuhaus without the elapsed release clause will likely cost upwards of £40million.

One benefit of not meeting a release clause is the ability to stagger payments, instead of shelling out the entire fee in one lump sum – a method the Anfield hierarchy are well versed in.

Credited with excellent long shooting, dribbling and ball interception abilities, the German seems to have all the [qualities](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/319448/Show/Florian-Neuhaus) needed in a more forward-thinking midfielder.

Despite [speculation](https://theathletic.co.uk/2608070/2021/05/28/konate-deal-done-but-liverpool-will-need-to-sell-before-they-buy-more-players/) suggesting Klopp won’t pine for a Wijnaldum replacement, one is certainly needed given the injury records of understudies Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
