# Virals: EFL club ‘looking to sign’ Liverpool defender Nat Phillips

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/31/virals-liverpool-are-favourites-to-sign-epl-star-youri-tielemans/) defender [Nat Phillips](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/01/26/virals-epl-club-ask-about-liverpool-defender-nat-phillips/) is believed to be a target for Championship promotion chasers AFC Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old was the [saviour last season](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9600405/The-making-Nat-Phillips-minute-call-join-Liverpool-set-career-Klopp-motion.html) for the Reds as the no-nonsense ace stepped into the breach in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

However, the Englishman has [fallen down the pecking order](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nathaniel-phillips/920393) once again at Anfield and could be on the lookout for regular first-team action.

Reliable journalist Paul Joyce on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1488119851906383873) confirmed that the South Coast club are keen on pulling off a double raid on Liverpool.

> Bournemouth are looking to sign Nat Phillips, the Liverpool centre-back, on loan for the rest of the season. Phillips will have regular football and Liverpool will receive a loan fee. Bournemouth are also interested in right-back Neco Williams.

So far this season Phillips has made just [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814) for Jurgen Klopp’s side across all competitions.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

It had been [widely anticipated](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12496692/nat-phillips-liverpool-defender-ready-to-leave-anfield-in-january-transfer-window) that the Bolton-born defender would be leaving Merseyside at some point during this window.

Whilst a fractured cheekbone may have hindered the possibility of a move up until now, the [£7.2million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814) man would appear to have finally found a suitor.

Although this is a deal that makes sense for the Reds in terms of receiving a loan fee now and a permanent fee down the line, having already gained [Premier and Champions League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/371814) experience, Phillips would be a superb capture for a second-tier club and perhaps could hold out for a late top-flight offer.
