# Virals: EPL rivals reportedly ‘want’ Liverpool star Mohamed Salah

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/08/steve-mcmanaman-slates-awful-sadio-mane-moment-in-defeat/) are yet to tie down [Mohamed Salah](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/03/ian-wright-lavishes-praise-on-liverpool-star-mohamed-salah/) to a new contract despite prolonged contract negotiations.

The 29-year-old has [recently spoken out](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/12441142/mohamed-salah-liverpool-forward-says-he-never-wants-to-leave-the-club) regarding a desire to remain at Anfield for the rest of his career.

However, it would appear that the club and player are no nearer to an agreement as conflicting [reports](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2021-2022/liverpool-striker-mohammed-salah-set-for-500-a-week-new-contract-at-anfield-paper-round_sto8588683/story.shtml) debate the Egyptian’s wage demands.

Now according to [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-salah-e-il-rinnovo-il-punto-78809), as cited by [TEAMtalk](https://twitter.com/search?q=salah%20newcastle&src=typed_query&f=top) on Twitter, Real Madrid and Newcastle United are both watching on with interest.

The report simply claims that both clubs are ‘on’ the [71-cap superstar](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/nationalmannschaft/spieler/148455/verein_id/3672) – presumable waiting to see how the contract situation resolves itself.

This season the winger has [scored 15 and assisted six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/leistungsdaten/spieler/148455) in just 15 appearances across all competitions.

Newcastle?

Albeit the North East club have become the wealthiest in world football overnight, at present they are [fighting to avoid relegation](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) as opposed to thinking about signing world stars.

Beyond phenomenal displays on the pitch, Salah [transcends football](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/jun/14/mohamed-salah-brought-happiness-and-pride-to-egypt-world-cup-liverpool) and the marketability of the Egyptian makes him a must keep star.

Valued at £90million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-salah/profil/spieler/148455)), the cost of replacing the ace would make little to no sense from any perspective.
