# Virals: Ex-Liverpool ace Luis Alberto ‘asks to leave’ Lazio

Former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/15/virals-multiple-clubs-interested-in-liverpool-winger-harry-wilson/) attacking midfielder [Luis Alberto](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/11/virals-ex-liverpool-ace-luis-alberto-could-hand-reds-a-summer-budget-boost/) has reportedly ‘asked to leave’ SS Lazio this summer.

The 28-year-old left Anfield for £3.6million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-alberto/transfers/spieler/128220)) in 2016 having spent three years with the Reds – albeit mostly out on loan.

Five years on the Spaniard has [shone in Serie A](https://www.sofascore.com/player/luis-alberto/111416) and is now a target for AC Milan and could be about to provide a financial windfall on Merseyside.

According to Italian journalist [Paolo Cericola](https://www.calciomercato.it/2021/07/15/calciomercato-lazio-luis-alberto-milan-juventus-lotito-tare/), as cited by [Milan Eye](https://twitter.com/MilanEye/status/1415635475935735813) on Twitter, Alberto has opted to move on.

Lazio will reportedly demand a fee in the region of €45-50million (£38-42million) for the ace, potentially providing Liverpool with a healthy sum owing to a [30 per cent sell-on clause](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-could-make-millions-2016-21654584) in the original sale.

Capped just [once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-alberto/nationalmannschaft/spieler/128220/verein_id/3375) by Spain, Alberto has been somewhat of a late bloomer and has only truly risen to prominence since landing in Rome.

Scoring [35 times and adding 48 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-alberto/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/128220) in 175 outings for Lazio, the star has certainly evolved into a top performer following a turbulent spell on Merseyside.

Those involved with transfers at Anfield will be hoping the likes of Alberto, Danny Ings and Ryan Kent [all move](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/danny-ings-tottenham-transfer-harry-kane-future-southampton-striker-1102295) for healthy fees this summer.

Liverpool [holds sell on clauses](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-clause-make-millions-20245926) on all three aforementioned players and could recoup a healthy amount, equivalent to selling one or more of their own fringe players.

As manager Jurgen Klopp [trims down and ideally strengthens](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sell-11-players-millions-20264292) the ranks in turn, increasing available funds would be a huge boost in the market.
