# Virals: Fabrizio Romano ‘expects’ Liverpool to sign a new winger

As the European Championships and Copa America both host their finals this weekend, [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/09/virals-liverpool-target-youri-tielemans-really-wants-anfield-switch/) fans will be hoping their conclusion kickstarts the transfer activity at Anfield.

Four Reds could be involved in some capacity on both sides of the equator as [Jordan Henderson](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/07/hojbjerg-hails-henderson-quality/) prepares to represent England and Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino look to add another trophy to Brazil’s illustrious history.

Despite already confirming the [arrival of Ibrahima Konate](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig), Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for more additions before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

According to reputable Italian journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano), (via Twitch), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1413568518067408901) on Twitter, an attacking option could be the next in line.

Romano stopped at naming possible candidates, whilst the likes of Raphinha, Donyell Malen and Adama Traore have all been [linked](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfer-rumours-traore-malen-20269149) in recent weeks.

Following the arrival of Diogo Jota last summer, Klopp has had a fourth string to his attacking bow, with the [Portuguese star](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/jota-impact-liverpool-similar-salah-klopp-headache-aldridge/1ixdq112s4wu9z9kenig0uy58) able to infiltrate the well established front three.

Returning loanee Harvey Elliott is [expected to feature in first-team](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12297657/harvey-elliott-confident-of-liverpool-first-team-place-after-blackburn-loan) plans next season, but the teenager’s presence could be supplemented by the departure of Xherdan Shaqiri.

Therefore, signing another forward option is a must this summer to allow both [Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to rest](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11808576/salah-and-mane-needed-a-rest/more/12) and be replaced when things simply aren’t working.

Both stars are due to compete in the [African Cup of Nations](https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1106199/caf-africa-cup-of-nations-cameroon-dates) at the start of 2022, meaning adequate cover will be needed for a number of matches.

Finding a player capable of operating centrally and on either wing – something [Malen is capable](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donyell-malen/leistungsdaten/spieler/326029) of – would be the ideal scenario to offer Klopp maximum versatility
