# Virals: Gary Lineker delighted as ‘very exciting’ Harvey Elliott returns

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/07/virals-liverpool-keeping-tabs-on-bayern-munich-star-serge-gnabry/) youngster [Harvey Elliott](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2022/02/04/pundit-predicts-fa-cup-comeback-for-gifted-liverpool-star-harvey-elliott/) marked an eagerly anticipated return in stunning style against Cardiff City over the weekend.

The 18-year-old came off the bench for the Reds and made an almost instant impact with a [first senior goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/565822) for the club.

All of this came some five months on from a [serious ankle injury](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/20876/12406589/harvey-elliott-liverpool-winger-suffers-serious-injury-against-leeds) suffered against Leeds United.

Former Premier League striker Gary Lineker was certainly delighted to see Elliott back in action and took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/GaryLineker/status/1490683504811819011) to praise the strike.

Prior to the horrific injury, Elliott had already begun [dazzling the Premier League](https://www.sofascore.com/player/harvey-elliott/955245) with his attacking exploits.

The teenager now has [one goal in five appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdaten/spieler/565822) this season and will be determined to finish the campaign on a high.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

It truly was brilliant to see.

Back in September, it appeared as though all the misconceptions about a midfield issue had been put to bed as the [£13.5million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/marktwertverlauf/spieler/565822) teen took centre stage.

Following the injury, there can be no doubt the Reds have missed the mercurial talent and Jurgen Klopp’s [despair](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/sep/12/klopp-says-elliotts-serious-injury-mars-liverpools-convincing-win-at-leeds) was all the proof needed to show how much the club rate their man.

Elliott’s comeback, coupled with the [arrival of Luis Diaz](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/12527169/luis-diaz-liverpool-sign-porto-winger-on-five-and-a-half-year-deal-for-initial-fee-of-37m) adds to the excitement around Anfield as Liverpool carry the fight in all four competions.
