# Virals: Joe Gomez reportedly ‘agitated’ over lack of Liverpool game time

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/26/virals-nike-liverpool-air-huaraches-expected-to-be-released-this-year/) centre-back [Joe Gomez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/09/22/joe-gomez-captain-honour/) is reportedly becoming ‘agitated’ over a lack of game time at Anfield.

The 24-year-old has returned from a [season-ending injury](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54919505) suffered midway through the 2020/21 campaign but hasn’t regained his spot alongside Virgil van Dijk/

Instead, Cameroonian defender Joel Matip would appear to have [usurped](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) the Englishman in the pecking order whilst Ibrahima Konate was given the nod at Old Trafford on Sunday.

According to a report from [90 Min](https://www.90min.com/posts/joe-gomez-england-future-liverpool-game-time-exclusive), as cited by [Anfield Edition](https://twitter.com/AnfieldEdition) on Twitter, Gomez is considering a move to enhance his chances of representing England a the World Cup next year.

The report claims the [11-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/256178/verein_id/3299) star is growing ‘increasingly concerned’ on Merseyside having been repeatedly left out by Gareth Southgate.

So far this season the former Charlton Athletic youngster has made [six appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) across all competitions – albeit only playing 12 minutes of Premier League football.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

There can be little denying Gomez has seen [less than the expected](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58021037) amount of game time this season.

But, considering the severity of the injury and previous setbacks, Jurgen Klopp is perhaps right to be extra cautious with the [£27million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/256178) ace.

Supremely talented and with a huge future ahead of him, Klopp will be reticent to allow the defender to leave the club prior to a [2024 contract expiry](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/256178).

Once among the first names on the teamsheet, there is no doubt Gomez will come again in a Liverpool shirt.

For the time being the London-born ace will likely have opportunities to further prove his value to the squad in the UEFA Champions League group stage, FA Cup and in [Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup clash](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/match/2021-22/men/fixtures-and-results) with Preston North End.
