# Virals: Joe Gomez steps up rehab from season-ending knee injury

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/04/16/virals-takumi-minamino-gives-honest-interview-on-reds-career/) defender [Joe Gomez](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/01/tony-adams-suggests-arsenal-shouldve-signed-wonderful-joe-gomez/) has posted a video on social media as he steps up his recovery from a season-ending knee injury in the gym.

Not seen on the pitch [since the Reds’ 1-1 draw](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/256178/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/31) with Manchester City back in November, the 23-year-old was ruled out for the rest of the campaign when he picked up a knee tendon problem whilst away on international duty.

The blow was made all the difficult to swallow for Jurgen Klopp, having already lost [Virgil van Dijk for the season](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/423210-klopp-provides-update-on-virgil-van-dijk-injury-recovery), before Joel Matip[compounded the defensive problems](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12206038/joel-matip-liverpool-defender-to-miss-remainder-of-2020-21-premier-league-season-with-ankle-ligament-injury#:~:text=Joel%20Matip%3A%20Liverpool%20defender%20to,injury%20%7C%20Football%20News%20%7C%20Sky%20Sports) in January when his campaign came to a premature end.

Both Gomez and Van Dijk have recently made their returns to Liverpool’s new state of the art Kirkby training centre –  with the Englishman taking to [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/CMfWQZ0DS6Z/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) to update fans on his progress earlier today.

Liverpool have undoubtedly suffered following the loss of Gomez, who was [lauded as ‘sensational’](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/385277-jurgen-klopp-praise-for-joe-gomez) by Jurgen Klopp, failing to defend their Premier League crown and [struggling to make the top-four](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) as things stand.

Whilst Van Dijk’s impact may be touted as the main loss, Gomez had earned the impressive [Sofascore rating of 7.27](https://www.sofascore.com/player/joe-gomez/318927) in the UEFA Champions League prior to his injury.
