# Virals: Journalist claims Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in Kylian Mbappe

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/14/virals-barry-douglas-lauds-special-liverpool-youngster-harvey-elliott/) have long since been credited with more than a passing interest in Paris Saint-Germain star [Kylian Mbappe](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/04/liverpool-boosted-in-quest-to-sign-mbappe-as-real-madrid-could-buy-haaland/).

From links to LeBron James, Jurgen Klopp hugs, [praising the Reds](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-are-a-machine-psg-star-mbappe-heaps-praise-on/oinvwhn3e3521d8moi8whwndd) and the new Nike sponsorship deal – the connections have come from bizarre quarters.

Whilst its hard not to be in admiration of the Frenchman’s obvious talents, the [finances](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-psg-name-asking-price-for-kylian-mbappe-amid-contractual-uncertainty) around such a deal have always seemed out of reach for the current spending model at Anfield.

However, Liverpool have been[linked with the 22-year-old](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/kylian-mbappe-premier-league-liverpool-23989292) once again.

This time Football Chief Editor for French news outlet [RMC](https://twitter.com/RMCsport), [Mohamed Bouhafsi](https://twitter.com/mohamedbouhafsi), has claimed the Reds are ‘very interested’ in Mbappe, as cited by [The Anfield Talk](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1393141729155592194) on Twitter.

The [report](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/liverpool-real-madrid-remain-interested-in-kylian-mbappe-deal/) also mentions Real Madrid has the second protagonist keen on making a deal happen for the [World Cup winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/erfolge/spieler/342229).

This season Mbappe has produced an astonishing [39 goals and 10 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdaten/spieler/342229) in 44 appearances across all competitions – living up to his ‘unplayable’ [billing](https://talksport.com/football/835615/kylian-mbappe-lionel-messi-cristiano-ronaldo-antoine-griezmann-marcus-rashford-psg-barcelona/) handed out by Antoine Griezmann.

Signing Mbappe this summer would shake the footballing world to its very core and make the task of [closing the gap to Manchester City](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) seem far less daunting.

Worryingly many journalists have [recently claimed](https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-sell-salah-sign-sancho-transfer-gossip-haaland) the only way Liverpool can sanction such a huge transfer in this upcoming window would be to sell a prized asset such as Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane.

Whilst nobody wants to see either man leave, for a generational talent such as the [42 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/nationalmannschaft/spieler/342229/verein_id/3377) capped, [£144million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/marktwertverlauf/spieler/342229), Frenchman – perhaps there could be room.

Primarily operating either [centrally or from the left](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kylian-mbappe/leistungsdaten/spieler/342229), Mbappe would offer a ready-made alternative with his [electric pace and ice-cold finishing](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/300713/Show/Kylian-Mbapp%C3%A9) to an [out of sorts Mane](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sadio-mane-liverpool-struggles-season-24083846) in particular.
